It has been such a busy year and I have really struggled to find time to do much fundraising. That being said myself and a colleague made a commitment at the start of the year to do some fundraising for Parkinson’s UK. Over the last few years we have worked very closely with Parkinson’s UK on a software project and this has given us a glimpse into the amazing work that they do. Determined to give something back, we decided our fundraising would take the form of the London Bridges Trek 2018.
The London Bridges Trek is a 25K walk through London, cossing back and fore across 16 bridges over the Thames. Starting off in Bishop’s Park and finishing shortly after Tower Bridge, the last of the 16 bridges.
With the event in September 2018 our fundraising efforts began in February. We set up a Just Giving page and sent an email around the office. This started us off towards our target. Over the next weeks and months we leaned on family, friends, clients and even people we didn’t really know through the means of Social Media. It was great to see how much support we had and how many people wanted to donate to such a great cause.
So on Saturday the 8th of September earlier this year myself and a colleague headed for the start line at Bishop’s Park for the 11am start time. Along with about a hundred or so people in the same time wave, we set off and made across London. We completed the course in just about 5 hours. Here is a picutre of our route.
We raised an amazing £638.50 with an additional £137.13 Gift Aid. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us.
If you would like to contribute to this total, you can do so via our Just Giving page.
