Search Engine Submission

Search Engine Submission

Before yoh read any further there is one thing that you need to know. DON’T PAY FOR SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION.

There was a time where Search Engine Submission was an absolute must to get your website listed and noticed. However these days ard long gone. Most search engines including the big three (Google, Yahoo and Bing) allow you to submit your website for consideration for free. Although you don’t really even need to do that to get listed. If you websites already online and accessible there is a good chance that it is already listed, it just might not be listed as what you want it listed as. You can check this by searching for just your website address in the search box. If you come up then it has already found and listed you. The big search engines are continually scanning the internet. All it needs to find is one link to your website somewhere, maybe on Twitter or a forum, and it scans your site and the chances are it lists you.

However both Bing (bing/yahoo) and Google have a webmasters portal which are free to use and I recommend that you do. I will come back to this shortly.

Ok so you are listed but you can only seem to find yourself when you search for your address or business name specifically. What if I want me website to appear under broader search terms such as Plumber St Ives, Restaurant Leeds or Buy Beauty Products Online. Well this is a much bigger topic and goes past just submitting your website to Search Engines.

Stay tunned for my Search Engine Optimization article which follows on from this coming soon.
